Capture the source
- Profiles, posts, comments, and replies
- Images, video, screenshots, and local files
- Source URLs retained with each capture
Investigator Workflow
Nexus Social Recon brings collection, review, connection, and reporting into one investigator-controlled workflow.
Planned security enhancement: Encryption for locally stored case data is planned for a future release.
Compliance Configuration
Nexus Social Recon Compliance is being configured around a policy-gated visible-capture mode. Low-risk tools such as screenshots, visible screen recording, local OCR, manual navigation, hashing, and local reports remain available, while workflows that scrape platform DOM data, collect hidden structured data, download media streams, or bulk-capture relationship lists are disabled in compliance mode.
Selected-region captures and visible recordings document the evidence as it appeared to the authorized user in the browser view.
OCR, reports, manifests, hashes, and case indexes are generated from already preserved local evidence artifacts.
Use automation where appropriate while keeping visible captures, OCR results, and evidence review clear and under investigator control.
Latest Upgrades
The newest Social Recon workflow separates same-computer local intelligence from shared network intelligence, so investigators can use local cross-case memory at the Intelligence level while reserving shared network lookup for Team deployments.
Investigator cases can index OCR text, User Index identifiers, captured friend names, media signatures, targets, faces, objects, and case context on the local computer.
Compare local cases for text, User Index links, friend identifiers, OCR, comments, captions, faces, thumbnails, objects, and visual signatures.
Promote faces, logos, and distinctive objects into a local target index for same-computer future-case recognition and explainable hit reports.
Team deployments extend detection beyond one computer through a governed shared index for authorized investigators.
Supported Platforms
Each module supports investigator-directed capture of public content as it appears on screen. Nexus Social Recon preserves user-selected screenshots, visible text, source URLs, notes, and report records without downloading platform-hosted video or audio or scraping hidden platform data.
Platform note: Support refers to compatibility with visible, user-directed workflows. It does not imply endorsement or authorization by the named platforms. Investigators remain responsible for following applicable law, agency policy, account permissions, and current platform terms.
Investigation Workflow
The workflow follows how investigators actually move through social evidence: preserve the page, mark what matters, index local signals, compare across unlocked cases when allowed, and package the record.
Start from a local case workspace with agency and investigator context.
Save visible public pages, media, comments, and source-linked records.
Keep the strongest evidence visible across platform modules.
OCR, User Index links, friend identifiers, target checks, visual matching, and local cross-case lookup.
Generate reports, media folders, hashes, and disclosure-ready files.
Previous Capture Detection
Nexus Social Recon alerts the investigator when a profile, post, or exact source URL has already been preserved in an available case. It can also place the current capture beside prior case evidence for direct review. This helps prevent duplicate collection, directs investigators to existing evidence, and frees more time for new findings and deeper case analysis.
Start with structured casework, add advanced active-case review, build local cross-case intelligence on one workstation, and connect teams through a governed shared index.
| Tier | Includes | Best Fit |
|---|---|---|
| Casework | Simple capture, reports, hashing, comments, source links, and local case records. OCR and case-level enrichment begin at Operations. | Focused public evidence preservation and report generation. |
| Operations | Casework plus OCR, User Index enrichment, friend identifiers, case targets, profile review, and face/object/detail matching within active cases. | Investigators who need richer analysis and triage tools while working individual cases. |
| Intelligence | Operations plus a Local Index, Global Targets, same-computer cross-case lookup, and repeated identifier or media detection across locally available cases. | Investigators who need local cross-case memory and repeat detection without a shared network index. |
| Team | Intelligence plus a shared network index, team collaboration, governed access, NAS evidence repository workflows, on-prem repositories, retention, audit logs, and support options. | Organizations with shared evidence repositories, larger workloads, or controlled infrastructure needs. |
Nexus Social Recon is built for public-source evidence capture, investigator triage, local indexing, media intelligence, and defensible reporting.
